Another wet half term but at least it's been just about warm enough. Good to see continued confidence in contact and generally an understanding of our exit route from the tackle (roll away, to feet and clearing out beyond or tackle to feet to jackal). We plan, weather permitting, to start to look at ruck entry, but we don’t want players on the ground if it to wet. Scanning and decision making for the ball carrier is something we will continue to work on. The more able ball handles will have the challenge of increased pressure as they become familiar with the more advanced 4 v 2v2.
It still has the potential to be cold next half term so please remember that we encourage the wrapping up warm approach. Top tips remain: bring along a beanie, it makes regulating body temperature so much easier. Think about getting your own chilly bottle and bringing warm squash, if you haven’t tried this when you are cold it’s worth giving it a go, what do you have to lose. Ensure that you have a warm dry top to put on after the session as you travel home. Aa bin liner for wet clothes or sitting on will always keep your chauffeur happier.
The dates for next term are: 20th, 27th February 5th 12th 19 & 26th March (£60). Please as last half term be aware that in the event the pitches are two hard to train on, we will have a back room / changing room session prepared and if the roads are too bad to travel, then like last year we intend alerting you a soon as we realistically know and in doing so will send a link to an online session. If there are more than two sessions when we can’t be on the pitches, we will carry forward those sessions as credits for the next half term.
With thanks Mike and Sue
