Aspire2 Clinic News Update 24th May 2025

A short but positive half term. Well done to those new young players who are starting to find their feet.

Our focus in contact has been the entry into the contact area, holding a low controlled body position with our arms in front of us rather than swinging, having both feet on the ground at the point of contact, and we retain control throughout the contact entry. The same principles apply in most tackles, and all ruck entries.

Developing handling skills is something that top players do for as long as they play the game. We will continue to work on passing across the leg (that is when we pass the ball across our most forward leg). We do urge you when watching rugby players to see if you can spot examples of players passing early f late because they can’t pass across the leg.

Over the next half term, we will look at action through and from contact. We would ask that you do bring gum shields as well as the usual request for fluids and where necessary sun block.

Next half-term after our shortest, is our longest, 7 weeks dates are: 3rd, 10th, 17th 24th June and 1st 8th and 15th July (£70).

With thanks Mike and Sue
