Thanks for your message!
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
As the wettest and warmest playing season that I can recall comes to an end we will have the opportunity of watching some of the most skilful and conditioned rugby players on earth playing in the Olympics Rugby 7’s.
Can I urge you to watch some game time and if possible, perhaps pick a team to follow (or even one in the men’s and one in the women’s tournament) so that you can become familiar with the players and note their individual strengths. Most players will have a super strength something that they are very good at for example very fast, very strong, great footwork or tackle technique.
It could be that they are explosive and make line breaks (can get the ball through the defensive line) and then off load to a try scorer, or that they have comprehensive distribution skill (can do very big passes, a range of offloads and kick accurately for player to run on to the ball) and set up the players around them.
Over the half-term have a think about your own game and see if you can identify what your super strength is, that doesn’t mean what you’re best at in the team, it means what your strength is, we all have one. It’s which part of your game is best.
It’s also worth thinking which part of your game you would like to develop most, by all means let us know after half term and we can try and put something together that helps you develop that part of your game, and equally a warm up activity that helps you show off that super strength.
Dates for next half term: June 4th 11th 18th 25th July and 2nd 9th & 16th (7 weeks £70).
Please remember that the next half term may be warmer weather, please remember your fluids (we will do some spot checks). If you use sun block it’s important to apply before we start the sessions and as always if you wear one bring a gum shield. If the ground is dry trainers are fine but my advice would be to bring your boots along too.
With thanks and have a good half term, Mike and Sue.
