Well, what a wet half-term it’s been, can I congratulate everyone on the quality of catch and pass skills given these conditions. In specific regard to confidence in contact can I say that we have been impressed with the responsible attitude that has been adopted. Practising your contact skills is important, as is preparing for contact by doing activation activity and conditioning yourself to brace for particularly the tackle. In general, we note that the speed of your tackle activity has increased and there seems to be a good understanding about which tackle to apply, when, why and importantly what to do after the tackle, your exit route. Next half term we will start to look at the role of the first players at the tackle area (breakdown).
It's likely to be cold next half term so please remember that we encourage the wrapping up warm approach. Top tips: bring along a beanie, it makes regulating body temperature so much easier. Think about getting your own chilly bottle and bringing warm squash, if you haven’t tried this when you are cold it’s worth giving it a go, what do you have to lose. Ensure that you have a warm dry top to put on after the session as you travel home. A bin liner for wet clothes or sitting on will always keep your chauffeur happier.
The dates for next term are: 9th, 16th 23rd & 30th January and 6th February (£50). Please also be aware that in the event the pitches are two hard to train on we will have a back room / changing room session prepared and if the roads are too bad to travel, then like last year we intend alerting you a soon as we realistically know and in doing so will send a link to an online session. If there are more than two sessions when we can not be on the pitches, we will carry forward those sessions as credits for the next half-term.
Have a happy and safe Christmas Mike and Sue
