Thanks for your message!
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
It’s hard to believe that for many in rugby their pre-season is already well underway. To those of you that are doing some fitness and conditioning or activate activity well done. The emphasis that the RFU has placed upon activate over recent years is very encouraging. There is far more likelihood of achieving your best when you have prepared for what is ahead of you. For those that are interested here is a link to the RFU’s Activate page, as you look through you will see there is advice and guidance about what activity to do and how to do it, it also usefully breaks some activity down into age bands Activate (englandrugby.com) .
The skills clinic activity in the first term will include contact work, it’s important as body shapes and sizes change that we become able to apply and manage ourselves as the person being tackled, the person making the tackle or the supporting players for either. Active activity which supports core, balance and flexibility will make a positive difference.
Please remember when you come along in September to bring your gum shields, fluids and for those that use it sun block. The ground may be hard so no problem with training shoes but if the ground becomes damp (which it does most evenings throughout the year) then boots should be worn. The ground is likely to be hard so please adopt the approach that: it’s better to be comfortable than look “cool”. My advice is to cut the toes off an old pair of socks (with parental permission and supervision) and put them in your boot bag. When the grounds hard you can slide the sock on, doubling them up over your knees and in an instant, you will reduce the impact to your knees when you go to ground.
The dates for the next half term are: 10th, 17th & 24th September 1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd October (£70.00).
Enjoy the rest of your summer holiday, all the best Mike and Sue.
